VMware vCenter Server is the centralized management platform for VMware vSphere virtualization environments, providing unified management of ESXi hosts and virtual machines. It controls VM provisioning, resource allocation, migration, and the full lifecycle of virtual infrastructure in data centers. 

vCenter generates detailed event and task logs covering virtual machine operations, host configuration changes, permission modifications, login events, and resource pool changes. These logs are essential for security monitoring of virtualization infrastructure, enabling detection of unauthorized VM creation, snapshot manipulation, privilege escalation, and administrative activities that could indicate compromise of the virtualization layer.
