VMware Carbon Black Cloud is a cloud-native endpoint protection platform that combines next-generation antivirus with endpoint detection and response (EDR) capabilities. Endpoint Standard provides prevention using behavioral analytics, while Enterprise EDR adds advanced threat hunting, investigation, and incident response capabilities with continuous recording of endpoint activity. 

The platform records all endpoint activities including process execution, cross-process events, file modifications, registry changes, and network connections into a searchable cloud database. This continuous recording enables security teams to investigate threats retroactively, hunt for indicators of compromise across all endpoints, and understand the full scope of an incident without requiring prior knowledge of what to look for.
