Microsoft Azure Application Gateway is a web traffic load balancer and application delivery controller that includes an integrated web application firewall (WAF). It provides SSL termination, URL-based routing, multi-site hosting, and layer 7 load balancing for web applications running in Azure. 

When WAF is enabled, Application Gateway logs capture detailed information about web requests, WAF rule matches, blocked attacks, and security violations. Access logs record all client requests including source IP, requested URL, response codes, and backend server information, providing security teams with visibility into web application traffic patterns and attack attempts.
