Amazon Web Services (AWS)

AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) is a web service that enables secure control of access to AWS resources. It allows administrators to create and manage users, groups, and permissions to grant or deny access to AWS services and resources. IAM supports fine-grained access policies, multi-factor authentication, identity federation, and temporary security credentials for applications and services. 

In the context of security response actions, AWS IAM enables rapid containment of compromised accounts by disabling users, forcing password changes, and revoking active sessions. These capabilities are critical for incident response when AWS credentials have been compromised, allowing security teams to immediately cut off unauthorized access while preserving forensic evidence.
