Amazon CloudWatch Logs is a fully managed log management service within AWS that enables real-time monitoring, storage, and analysis of log data from AWS resources, applications, and services. It collects logs from sources including EC2 instances, Lambda functions, CloudTrail, Route 53, and custom applications running in the cloud. 

The service provides features such as log streaming, metric filters, subscription filters, and integration with other AWS services like Lambda and Elasticsearch. Organizations use CloudWatch Logs to centralize operational and security log data, create alarms based on log patterns, and retain logs for compliance purposes with configurable retention policies.
