Richard Cohen

Generic Detection Manager

Richard Cohen is a Generic Detection Manager in SophosLabs. He manages a team of 12 threat researchers across four sites (Oxford, Budapest, Vancouver and Sydney) to provide protection against families of Windows executable threats and applications, employing a broad range of techniques including code analysis and detection, unpacking, and reputation-based modelling. Richard joined Sophos in 2002 after studying engineering at Cambridge University. Four years later, he moved to Canada to help expand the malware operations in the Vancouver lab. He currently works from our Abingdon, UK, headquarters. Outside of work, he enjoys a wide range of music, plays the double bass, and loves to ski.
