Preferred Distributor Terms & Conditions

A change of your MSP distributor will need to be initiated through Sophos Partner Care.

Identifying a New Preferred Distributor

Changing your Preferred Distributor without selecting the “Apply Preferred Distributor to All Open Opportunities?” box, will be automatically approved when the “Update” button is selected and result in the following actions and behavior.

• New opportunities will be populated with your preferred distributor. You will have the option to change the distributor during the opportunity creation process.
• Auto generated renewal opportunities will be populated with your Preferred Distributor.
• If a distributor on an open opportunity is terminated, Sophos will close the opportunity and recreate it with your Preferred Distributor. Mid-term change opportunities (Amend and Amend & Extend renewals) will be closed and not recreated.
• Quotes are not copied to the new opportunities and will need to be recreated by partners, distributors, or Sophos sales.

Applying Preferred Distributor to All Open Opportunities

Checking the box “Apply Preferred Distributor to All Open Opportunities?” will result in the following actions and behavior.

• Sophos will initiate a review process for your change request.
• Based on the number of open opportunities and their types, the review and approval process can range from 3 business days to 6 weeks.
• Partners with a large number of open opportunities will require additional planning to ensure the Sophos sales team can adequately support the transition to the new Preferred Distributor.
• Once approved, open opportunities with distributors not matching the new Preferred Distributor will be closed. New and Renew opportunities will be recreated. Mid-term change opportunities (Amend and Amend & Extend renewals) will be closed and not recreated.
• Quotes are not copied to the new opportunities and will need to be recreated by partners, distributors, or Sophos sales.

Removing Your, or Electing to not have a Preferred Distributor

If you elect not to identify a Preferred Distributor or remove your Preferred Distributor this will result in the following actions and behavior.

• Auto generated renewal opportunities will use the incumbent distributor of record on renewed licenses/contracts.
• You will be required to identify a distributor when creating new opportunities.
• If the incumbent distributor is terminated, the auto-generated renewal opportunities will be created without a distributor, and you will need to manually assign a distributor to the opportunity before quotes can be created.
