Virus data updates
A new version of our virus data is released each month for customers using our enterprise solutions, Sophos Anti-Virus and PureMessage. It is made available on our databank for customers who update automatically. For customers who update manually, virus data can be downloaded from our product updates section. It can also be ordered on CD for a small additional cost.
In addition to monthly releases, data on individual in-the-wild viruses and virus families is also released immediately as virus identity (IDE) files. You can subscribe to our free email notification service to be informed when each new IDE is published.
Software updates
Software is updated each month for Sophos Anti-Virus versions 4.1x and lower, and these updates are released alongside the latest version of the virus data.
Automatic updates
Customers using Sophos Anti-Virus versions 4.1x or lower should update their software and virus data automatically using EM Library.
Software and virus data are updated automatically for customers using our small business solutions and the following enterprise solutions:
- Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows, version 6 and above
- Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 95/98/Me, version 4 and above
- Sophos Anti-Virus for NT 4.0, version 4 and above
- PureMessage for Windows/Exchange, version 2 and above
- PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange, version 3 and above
Sophos Anti-Virus, version 5 - products unsupported
Updates to protection stopped on 30 June 2007 for Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows, version 5, Enterprise Console 1, and EM Library 1.2. It is critical that you upgrade now.
