Sophos Data Loss Prevention 'Patience Window'

When large files are being scanned against the Data Loss Policy the time taken to scan the content could be quite lengthy. As a result the following is displayed: 


This dialogue will appear if the time to scan reaches four seconds. It will disappear once the file scan has completed.

The dialogue is attached either to the application being monitored (e.g., Internet Explorer) or the window for location folder. If either of these lose focus then the dialogue will be suppressed. This avoids the dialogue interfering with any tasks the end user carries out while the file(s) are being scanned.

When the scanning dialogue is visible you can see the application listed in task manager as 'Sophos.DataControl.Splashscreen'.  An example is shown below.
