An on-demand or scheduled scan fails to scan a file.

On-access scanning is not affected.

This can occur when a file is uploaded by an ordinary (non-admin) user but has not yet been checked in. This means that the file is not visible to either an administrator or to the on-demand/scheduled scan. Once checked in, the file will be scanned in the usual way.

What to do

This is a SharePoint behaviour. Note the following:

  • On-access scanning still scans the file and its very unlikely anyone will turn off on-access scanning.
  • The file is only visible to the user who uploaded it, so no-one else has access to it.
