How to run Sophos Diagnostic Utility from the command line

This article explains how to run the Sophos Diagnostic Utility from the command line.

What To Do

  1. Open a command prompt (Start | Run | Type: cmd.exe | Press Return)
  2. Change directory to the installation directory of the tool (See below for for directory listings)
  3. Type: sducli.exe

To display the usage/ help options and for more information type: sducli.exe -help. By default the tool uses the following command:

sducli.exe -sysinfo -sophos -logdir="%temp%"

The installation directory will depend on how the Diagnostic Utility was installed:

  • If manually downloaded and installed:
    C:\Program Files\Sophos\Sophos Diagnostic Utility\

The diagnose utility has also been included in managed Sophos Anti-Virus installations since version 10.0 and will be available from the following locations:

  • Windows 7 and newer (7/8/2008/2012) managed Endpoint: c:\programdata\sophos\autoupdate\cache\savxp\diagnose\
  • Windows XP/2003 managed Endpoint:
    c:\program files\sophos\autoupdate\cache\savxp\diagnose\

The diagnose utility can also be run from you central update location (if using Sophos Update Manager):

  • \\server\SophosUpdate\CIDS\S000\SAVSCFXP\savxp\diagnose\
