PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange: some spam not being scanned

Issue
Some spam is not being scanned by PureMessage.

What to do

  1. In the PureMessage console, click Configuration | Transport (SMTP) scanning policy | Anti-spam and then click Allow specific senders. Ensure that your own domain or addresses within your organization are not included in this list.
  2. Click Configuration | System | Routing. From the Routing dialog box, click the Upstream (trusted) relays button. Ensure that you have configured at least one Upstream (trusted) relay. Adding a trusted relay improves the spam scoring accuracy by ensuring that this IP address is not checked against IP block lists.

    Note: A Trusted relay is a known email server that sends or forward emails to PureMessage. Examples of trusted relays include your ISP's SMTP server and any email relays located on your network which are upstream to your PureMessage server(s).

  3. After performing the two steps listed above, if you are still receiving spam that should be scanned, submit a sample to Sophos.
