PureMessage 3: error '0x80004005 Cannot open database requested in login 'SavexQuar'' returned when logging in or moving to quarantine section

The following error is returned on opening PureMessage or moving to the quarantine section:

0x80004005 Cannot open database requested in login 'SavexQuar'

What to do

Restart the SQL server following the steps below.

Note: If your SQL Server instance was installed on a remote server, ensure that the remote server is available.

  1. Check that the SQL Server service is running on the selected server
  2. Open the Control Panel
  3. Select Administrative Tools
  4. Select Services
  5. Select the SQL server service for the SQL instance selected when you installed PureMessage, typically:

    MSSQL$SOPHOS, SQL Server (SOPHOS) or for a selected instance MSSQL$, SQL Server (<INSTANCE>)

  6. Right-click the service and select Start
