Enterprise Console: Error e03d0036

Error e03d0036 is displayed in Enterprise Console when the Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+ on-access scanner has been unable to check a file. The full text of the error message is as follows:

e03d0036 - The on-access driver failed to check file <file_name>

This happens where the on-access scanner has been unable to access the file concerned in order to scan it. The usual reason for this is an access violation.

In some circumstances large numbers of these error messages may be generated.

What to do

  • Check the event log for messages relating to file access problems. This should give more information as to why Sophos Anti-Virus could not check the file.
  • Check the user account that is running the process that accesses the file. This user account should have the necessary rights to read that file.

If this error message is being reported by a known source, and you want to suppress it, you can do so by blacklisting the error code.
