Error: 'Failed to install [...]; Setup has timed out'

During installation of endpoint software the follow error may be seen:

Failed to install [...]; Setup has timed out

This is a generic error forwarded by the installer to the console.

What to do

  1. This error can be displayed temporarily during installation if communications on your network are slow. Wait a few minutes. The problem may correct itself.
  2. Check log files and workstation computer screens for other error codes, then search the Sophos knowledgebase for those error codes. Follow the advice given for those messages.
  3. If you cannot resolve it in this way, uninstall and re-install the endpoint software on the computer.
