The SafeGuard Credential Provider tile is not available after installation of SafeGuard Enterprise / Sophos Disk Encryption. After logon to the Operating System using another Credential Provider, the SafeGuard Authentication Application appears and can be used to authenticate.

The issue has been observed on a Lenovo T440 with the Lenovo PreLoad image and a fingerprint device from "Validity", with OmniPass software installed.

The OmniPass software installs a Credential Provider filter called „OmnipassCredProv“ that hides the SafeGuard Credential Provider.

What To Do

To enable the SafeGuard Credential Provider, the OmniPass Credential Provider filter has to be disabled. To do so, open the registry and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\Credential Provider Filters

To disable the OmniPass Credential Provider Filter, rename the key from "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Authentication\Credential Provider Filters\{F3F1B0FA-4775-41d8-8578-436772D93FB4}"

to "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Authentication\Credential Provider Filters\_{F3F1B0FA-4775-41d8-8578-436772D93FB4}"

The SafeGuard Credential Provider will be visible again after rebooting the machine.

: As of SafeGuard Enterprise 6.10, the SafeGuard Client setup will move the OmniPass Credential Provider filter to "HKLM\Software\Utimaco\SafeGuard Enterprise\Authentication\Backup". The Credential Provider filter will be restored if the SafeGuard Client will be uninstalled.
