By default, Sophos Anti-Virus only downloads the required Talpa Binary Packs to enable on-access support on the current system.  This can be a problem if the system is acting as an update source for Sophos Anti-Virus clients on other kernels/distributions.

For more details on configuring an update server for Sophos Anti-Virus clients, see the startup guide available here:

What To Do

To force Sophos Anti-Virus to download all Talpa Binary Packs ,run the following command:

/opt/sophos-av/bin/savconfig set PrimaryUpdateAllDistros true

Next time an update is required, all Talpa Binary Packs will be downloaded.

  • This option will increase the bandwidth consumption of automated updates.  It should only be performed if the system is acting as an update server.
  • Talpa Binary Packs will not be downloaded until an update to Sophos Anti-Virus (such as an IDE file update) is required.
