User cannot reset password in Sophos Mobile Control

When a user attempts to reset the password in Sophos Mobile Control, no reset link is sent out and the server log file displays the error: Bad mail address settings.

One reason for this error can be that there is no email address configured for the password reset functionality.

What To Do

Configure an originator for the password emails:

  1. Login to the Sophos Mobile Control web console as an administrative user.
  2. Click the "Settings" button (small gear icon).
  3. Switch to the "Password Policies" tab.
  4. At "Reset password settings" define an email address for the "Originator".
  5. Click the Save icon.

You should now be able to reset the password.
