When viewing the Enterprise Console error code "unspecified error 0x829F0001" is shown

When Enterprise Console is open, the following error message is shown:

The following errors may also be seen in the 'Sophos-Management-Services.log' file:

ERROR {Sophos.Management.Data.SqlConnectionContext.OpenConnection} ==> Retry execution countdown value is 0. Re-throwing the connection error ...

ERROR {Sophos.Management.Data.SqlConnectionContext.OpenConnection} ==> Failed to open connection. Retry countdown value = 5

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot open database "SOPHOSXX" requested by the login. The login failed.
Login failed for user '[Domain\User]'.

The connection between the Sophos Management Service and the Microsoft SQL Server instance has been interrupted. 

What To Do

  1. Close Enterprise Console.
  2. Restart the 'Sophos Management Service' and 'SQL Server (Sophos)' service 
    1. Start | Run | type: services.msc and press Enter.
    2. Scroll down to the aforementioned services.
    3. Right-click on them and choose 'restart'.
  3. Re-open Enterprise Console.

Note: If this issue persists, ensure you are running the latest version of Sophos Enterprise Console and the latest version of Microsoft .NET on the Sophos management computer.
