If you attempt to uninstall Sophos Update Manager from the server hosting Sophos Enterprise Console you will receive a message stating:

Sophos Update Manager is currently in use by Sophos Management Server and cannot be removed

First seen in
Enterprise Console 5.0.0

This is because Sophos Update Manager should not be uninstalled unless the Sophos Management Server component has been removed first.
The management server has not been designed for the Sophos Update Manager to be manually uninstalled and reinstalled as this could cause adverse affects.

What To Do

If you have issues with the Sophos Update Manager installation or Remote Management System installation on the management server please collect a Sophos Diagnostic Utility from this server and contact Technical Support.

Technical Information:

With the release of Sophos Enterprise Console 5.0 the Sophos Update Manager is visible within: Add/Remove programs - File/Program features.
Previous releases including the Sophos Control Centre do not list the Sophos Update Manager within Add/Remove programs - File/Program features.

If you need more information or guidance, then please contact technical support.
