What to do

Check the following:

  • Confirm the endpoint computer is configured correctly for deployment from the Enterprise Console.  See the Sophos endpoint deployment guide.
  • Confirm that the account specified in the Protect Computers Wizard is specified Domain\DomainAdmin if a Windows domain is present, or that the ID specified has local administrative access to the computer.
  • Check for group policy setting:
Network access: Do not allow storage of credentials or .NET Passports for network authentication.
If this is enabled, disable it for policies applying to the computer(s) showing the error.
On Windows Server 2008 or above, this setting can cause an issue for some remote software installations, as well as for scheduled tasks with stored credentials.
  • If the above have not resolved the error, run a manual installation of Sophos Anti-Virus

Additional Information/checks

To determine whether this is a permissions issue, create a scheduled task manually using the Protect Computers wizard credentials to run another application, for example notepad.exe
