SafeGuard LAN Crypt version 3.6x and higer

Client OS

All supported operating systems

Background information
The "Profile Update Interval" setting defines how often SafeGuard LAN Crypt checks for new policy files and updates them if necessary. For updating policy files SafeGuard LAN Crypt needs access to the network drive on which the policy files are stored. It checks whether a new version of the policy file exists on the network drive and updates the policy file on the client computer if required.

SafeGuard LAN Crypt automatically carries out all the steps required for successfully loading the user profile (if necessary, searching for new certificates, verifying new certificates, etc.). The old profile is replaced by the new profile and only the new profile is loaded, subject to no errors occur during the process. Afterwards, the counter for the duration of cache storage is reset. If the policy files are identical, the counter will also be reset.

If this option is set to not configured, SafeGuard LAN Crypt shows the standard behaviour described for Cached Policyfile lifetime. The update interval can be specified in minutes, hours, days and weeks.

Note: SafeGuard LAN Crypt does not allow update intervals of less than 15 minutes. If the option is set to 0, the update interval will be disabled.

What to do

  1. Open Group Policy of the SafeGuard LAN Crypt (Computer or user Policy) | LAN Crypt Configuration | Client Settings.
  2. Specify the update interval in minutes, hours, days and weeks.

Alternatively, the Profile Update Interval can be added to the client directly via a Registry entry:

Value Name: UpdateInterval
Value Type: Value: dword:00000003c (60) for 60 minutes
