How to check the integrity of the SafeGuard Enterprise database.

Known to apply to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s)
SafeGuard Management Center / Local Policy Editor

What To Do

You can check whether the SafeGuard Enterprise database is in a healthy condition by running a self check:

  1. Open the SafeGuard Enterprise Management Center, then navigate to "Tools" | "Database integrity".

From here, you are able to see some parts of the database itself, mainly tables and some other settings.

  2. You can now "Check selected" or "Check all" in order to verify that the database and its components are not corrupted.

After starting this action, the agent verifies the database checksum - whether it is still consistent or not. If the database was manipulated manually (e.g. by changing database entries) a warning message is displayed similar to this:

  3. Use the "Repair" function to try to repair this violation.

In most cases, as long as the database itself is still working, it should be possible to restore the correct status.

During this repair, the checksum of the database is corrected. This repair commits the changes that have been applied to the database.

  4. After a successful repair, a result message box will be displayed.
In this example the correct checksum was restored.
