Access to the Windows Control Panel, and the names of the tools/components found there, vary slightly according to which operating system you are running.

How to access Windows Control Panel in Windows 10
In Windows 10, you can open the Control Panel by clicking the Start button in the lower left corner and typing in 'control panel'. The computer will bring up a list of apps and programs that match that term.
Click the highlighted area (Control Panel) to open the Control Panel.
Note: this is the "Classic" view of the Control Panel. If you want to see the newer version of Control Panel, hit the Start button and click Settings.
How to access Windows Control Panel in Windows 8 and RT
In Windows 8, you can open the Control Panel from the Start screen by simply typing the word 'control'. A search will begin and a list of apps that match will be shown. Example:

In all versions of Windows you can open the Windows Control Panel as follows:
