Sophos UTM Named a Tech Innovator by UBM Channel’s CRN for 2012

Sophos Press Release

Sophos today announced that it was named a winner in the Security category at CRN’s 9th annual Tech Innovator awards ceremony—for Sophos UTM 9, the industry’s firstunified threat management (UTM) specifically designed to integrate gateway security and endpoint security in a single hardware or virtual box. The Tech Innovator Awards recognizes technology companies that have used original methods or technologies to deliver new, innovative products and partner support.

CRN Test Center Editors reviewed hundreds of technology products deployed over the past year to determine which vendors broke away traditional thinking to create completely new and unique channel opportunities. Companies on this year’s list recently implemented innovative methods to bridge the gap between current problems and solutions facing channel executives today.

With UTM 9, Sophos provides complete security protection, regardless of location, combining its award-winning endpoint protection and unified threat management solutions into a single management console.

“Sophos UTM provides our customers with a security solution that simplifies their overall security management - their endpoints, network and data are safe from threats, wherever they work, whatever devices they use,” said Todd O’Bert, President, Productive Corporation. “Sophos provides an integrated level of protection that is best in class and offers a great value proposition for solution providers.”

“Since its release earlier this year, UTM 9 has been an industry ‘game-changer’, especially for IT professionals looking for complete security without complexity. The product was a collaborative effort by our Sophos development team working closely with our active user and partner community via idea exchanges and online forums,” said Matt Fairbanks, CMO, Sophos. “CRN’s recognition of UTM 9 is a credit to our community of partners and IT professionals—helping Sophos engineer compelling, innovative solutions that address the evolving security challenges businesses face.”

“For the past nine years, the CRN Test Center has honored companies and products that take an original and inventive approach to solving today’s IT problems,” said Kelley Damore, Vice President, Editorial Director for UBM Channel. “And the new capabilities within Sophos’ UTM product enable solution provider partners to differentiate themselves as their customers’ trusted advisers.”

2012 Tech Innovators were selected from a large pool of nominations, with winners and runners-up selected by the editors of CRN and the CRN Test Center. The Tech Innovator award winners will be mentioned in the December 2012 issue of CRN Magazine or at
