SAV32CLI, the command line version of Sophos Anti-Virus on Windows

The Sophos Anti-Virus 32-bit command line interface (SAV32CLI) is a command line program that comes as part of the full Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows installation.

Note:  SAV32CLI use to be available as a standalone program/download.  From September 2014 the standalone version is not available.  For standalone malware cleanup tools consider either the Sophos Virus Removal Tool (SVRT) or the Sophos Anti-Virus Bootable (SBAV) tool.

Where is the program located?

The program is installed as part of the full Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows program and is located in in the \Sophos\Sophos Anti-Virus\ folder under either 'Program Files' (32-bit operating systems) or 'Program Files (x86)' (64-bit operating system).  Example:

How do I run the program?

The program can only to be run from a command prompt (or batch file script) and for the latest Windows operating systems, that have User Account Control security enabled, the command prompt must be run as an administrator.  For example on a Windows 8 computer search for 'cmd' on the start screen, right-click the program [1] and from the bottom of the screen select 'Run as administrator' [2].
