Error message: a025000d - loading SAVI returned error 0xa0040200

Enterprise Console indicates errors for one or more managed computers running Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+. The following error message is recorded:

a025000d - loading SAVI returned error 0xa0040200: dll failed to initialise

What To Do

Restart the SAV service

You can often resolve the issue by doing the following:

  1. At the computer which is showing the error, open Windows Services.
  2. Restart the Sophos Anti-Virus service.

Check folder permissions

If the problem persists check the folder permissions where the file SAVI.dll is located (e.g., C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos\Sophos Anti-Virus\SAVI.dll).

It is also worth check the file permissions of the DLL files in the same folder as well as the folder permissions itself.  Compare these permissions to a working computer.

If the problem still persists re-install Sophos Anti-Virus on the affected computer.

Further Information

It is also recommend that you check for any other error messages or software that loads during boot up that might cause the computer to start up very slowly.
