How to check partition usage on the Sophos UTM.

Known to apply to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s)

Sophos UTM Software Appliance

Operating systems
V7, V8, V9

What To Do

  • Login to the console and use the command:
du -h

This displays a list of files and their sizes in the working directory.

  • To get a better overview of any directory that has a lot of files or is using a lot of memory, use the command:

du -h --max-depth=1

where the parameter max-depth indicates the number of directories to go down.

This command is useful, if you receive messages from your UTM that one partition is filling up. This might happen if for example, a user is streaming videos through the HTTP proxy.
In this case, the directory/var/chroot-http/tmp will be affected and deleting the files in this directory will solve the problem.
