Paul Ducklin, Head of Technology, Asia Pacific received the AusCERT Director's Award for Individual Excellence in Information Security at this year's AusCERT gala dinner. This award was presented to the individual (in the past 12 months) who has provided the greatest overall contribution to information security in terms of their work in areas of information security community service, innovation, education, liaison, law enforcement, governance or leadership. Ducklin was one of six finalists for this award, and was quite frankly stunned at the announcement of his win.

"I am thrilled for Paul as he is truly deserving of this acknowledgement," commented Rob Forsyth, Managing Director of Asia Pacific, "Anyone that knows Paul will be cognizant to his dedication to his work and passion for anything IT security related. He is highly regarded by his peers and has excellent rapport with various industry associations, the media and also our customers."

AusCERT partnered with SC Magazine this year to bring the inaugural awards to Australia, following in the footsteps of the SC Awards in Europe and the US. The awards were held at Movie World in the Gold Coast, Queensland, bringing together over 1000 IT security professionals.
