Sophos formalizes relationship with Network Appliance as Advantage Partner; provides anti-virus for storage products

Sophos Press Release

Lynnfield, MA - Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses against viruses and spam, today announced that it has joined the Network Appliance(tm) partner program as an Advantage Partner. This announcement follows on Sophos's agreement to provide Sophos Anti-Virus solutions for customers using NetApp® storage systems. Sophos's industrial strength virus protection technology enables system administrators to safeguard all stored data from the very latest viruses, worms, Trojan horses and spyware.

As a NetApp Advantage Partner, Sophos will continue to develop joint security products with Network Appliance as well as participate in select shared marketing and sales activities.

"We are looking forward to working with Network Appliance for future product development," said Phil Wood, Sophos Anti-Virus product manager at Sophos. "Through this partnership, we will complement NetApp storage systems with our award-winning anti-virus software to maximize each other's industry-leading technology. Given our common expertise in understanding the needs of network-based solutions, it makes sense to join our capabilities to benefit our respective customers."

Sophos Anti-Virus for NetApp storage systems protects critical business data by scanning regularly for viruses and other malicious software. In order to provide a higher level of performance, Sophos's solution scans at the storage level rather than the user level to improve file access speed. Sophos anti-virus is optimized for all NetApp storage systems running the Data ONTAP(tm) operating system and can administer remote scans through any Windows NT/XP/2000/2003 computer. Sophos for NetApp storage systems can also be configured to update automatically to reduce the load on IT administrators while ensuring the most up-to-date network security.
