Highlights increasing demand for enterprise anti-virus
solutions
Hong Kong - Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus
protection, has appointed four more business partners in Hong Kong
in response to growing demand for their suite of anti-virus
products. The company has had two business partners in the area for
several years, and now plans to build on its success in this market
following the selection of four further partners.
Sophos's new partners in Hong Kong are; Datalink Business
Solutions Ltd., Data World Computer and Communications Ltd., Thiz
Technology Group Ltd. and Unitech Computer Systems Ltd. They will
join Sophos's existing partners in the region, which include Yui
Kee Computing Ltd. and Linux centre (Hong Kong) Ltd., offering
Sophos's award-winning anti-virus solutions to organisations
throughout the SAR.
Despite an increasing awareness of the virus threat, companies
still need to remain vigilant and ensure that they have all of the
appropriate virus prevention measures in place. A survey conducted
by the Hong Kong Productivity Council last year revealed that more
than half of the 1,517 enterprises polled that had installed
servers and web sites reported 2-4 virus incidents. The study
showed that the average number of attacks per affected company had
risen from 2.6 times in 2000 to 3.5 times in 2001, signifying an
undesirable upward shift. Survey data also confirmed that virus
attacks continued to be the most prevalent type of computer attack
during 2001.
"Very few companies nowadays are willing to compromise on
anti-virus protection, and as a result we are continuing to make
significant in-roads into this market," said Charles Cousins,
managing director of Sophos Asia. "Many corporates are taking the
virus threat more seriously, but with new malicious code emerging
every day there is no room for complacency. Sophos, in conjunction
with its partners, is promoting not only its products but is also
educating users and helping to implement safe computing practices
across the board."
Sophos has chosen to work with companies who are equipped with
both local expertise and a sound understanding of technology and
security-related issues. In return, Sophos offers extensive sales,
marketing and technical support to all of its business partners.
The Sophos product range offers a unique solution to the virus
problem, providing all-points protection for corporate users. The
company has built its reputation from a strong and loyal customer
base. More than 60% of the company's worldwide turnover comes from
outside the UK.
