Sophos Press Release
Virus Bulletin 100% award

Sophos, the world leader in corporate anti-virus solutions, today announced that Sophos Anti-Virus for NetWare has been awarded the VB 100% award in the September 2000 edition of Virus Bulletin, outperforming products such as Network Associates NetShield. This is the 12th time Sophos Anti-Virus has won a VB 100% award, confirming its position as one of the most powerful virus protection products available.

Virus Bulletin tested 11 different anti-virus products for their detection rates, lack of false alarms, and speed of scanning. Sophos not only detected all the in the wild virus samples it was tested against, but also came out with a perfect score in the false alarm test.

Sophos outperformed a number of competing products including NetShield from NAI which missed some in the wild viruses.

"We're delighted to have further independent verification of the quality of Sophos Anti-Virus," said Graham Cluley, head of corporate communications for Sophos. "Companies can rest assured that Sophos offers not only the best in customer service and technical support, but also delivers first class virus protection technology."

Sophos Anti-Virus uses the same virus-finding engine in all of its products, ensuring a similarly high detection rate across all platforms.

About the Virus Bulletin 100% award

The Virus Bulletin 100% awards recognize those products best able to detect viruses known to be 'in the wild'. Unlike some other similar-sounding schemes, Virus Bulletin uses the most up-to-date WildList in its tests. This means that products that are 'up with the game' are the ones most likely to be granted VB 100% awards.
