Role

A role has arisen as a result of expansion of the in house tax and finance team. The Tax Advisor Americas will support the global group tax function on all matters relating to tax compliance in USA, Canada and Latin America.

Reporting to the Vice President Group Tax and working closely to support the Americas Regional Financial Controller, the role would suit someone who enjoys a broad role working in tax across geographies. You will work closely with the business so your approach must be commercial and you will need to be confident in building relationships with the wider business and finance teams.

The role would suit candidates either coming straight from the profession, ideally with some exposure to international tax, transfer pricing and transactions experience, or those looking for a second move in-house, aspiring to build their international experience. Some international travel will be required.

Main Duties

  • Delivery of world class tax support to the business
  • Communication of tax with non-tax stakeholders
  • Ensuring global tax strategy is followed and consistently applied
  • Supporting work on identifying proactive tax opportunities with the business
  • Managing outside service providers to ensure timely filing of complete and accurate tax returns
  • Preparing quarterly and annual tax forecast calculations
  • Preparing annual tax provision in the accounts
  • Ensuring that local transfer pricing documentation is maintained to a high standard
  • Tax research and strategy for the US, Canada and Latin America
  • Manage federal, state income and franchise, property, and sales & use tax audits in USA and Canada
  • Research corporate income tax and employee benefit issues; draft memos summarizing research along with recommended action to be taken.
  • Maintain professional tax knowledge and monitor current tax developments
  • Providing support on special projects and key business initiatives as needed

Experience and Skills

  • 3-4years experience in corporation tax gained in a multinational organization or Big 4 accounting firm
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS tax standards and reporting requirements
  • Strong knowledge of income tax principals and reporting requirements
  • Experience with federal and state tax audits
  • Knowledge of transfer pricing documentation requirements
  • General knowledge of sales & use and property taxes
  • Professional tax qualification CPA/MST preferred
  • Initiative, an ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal, project leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to drive change
  • Record of creative approach to problem solving
  • Sound commercial awareness and understanding of business drivers
  • Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize personal workload
  • Self starter with the ability to work effectively in multicultural, international teams focused on identifying practical solutions
  • Excellent English writing and speaking skills with the ability to present complex subject matter clearly and succinctly
