Sophos Anti-Virus achieves 100% detection of in-the-wild viruses in AV-Test.Org tests

Sophos Press Release

Sophos Anti-Virus has successfully achieved a perfect 100% score in in-the-wild virus detection tests conducted by AV-Test.Org, in both on-demand and on-access modes.

AV-Test.Org's independent tests evaluated 20 different anti-virus products for their detection rates on the Windows 98, Windows Me and Windows XP operating systems.

Sophos outperformed a number of competing products which missed some of the commonly encountered in-the-wild viruses.

"With new viruses appearing all the time we are delighted to have the quality of protection Sophos Anti-Virus offers against in-the-wild viruses verified by independent bodies such as AV-Test.Org," said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos Anti-Virus. "This positive result joins others such as those from ICSA, Virus Bulletin and West Coast Labs, which have confirmed the superb quality Sophos's anti-virus solutions."
