More Information

WM97/Class-D is a polymorphic Word 8 macro virus. It was first discovered in July 1998 and was first reported in-the-wild in September 1998. The virus uses the file c:\class.sys as part of its replication mechanism. This file is a text listing of the virus.

The virus triggers on 14th of the month, from June to December. When a document is opened on one of these days the virus prints a mildly offensive message telling the user that he is "a big stupid jerk":

The virus also changes several registry settings, including making the registered organisation of Windows to be "Dr. Diet Mountain Dew".
