W32/Sohana-V is a network worm for the Windows platform.
W32/Sohana-V spreads through instant messaging applications, removable media and network shares.
W32/Sohana-V includes functionality to download, install and run new software.
When first run W32/Sohana-V copies itself to:
<System>\SCVHOST.exe
<Windows>\SCVHOST.exe
and creates the following files:
<System>\setting.ini - 0 byte file
<Windows>\Tasks\At1.job - dat file, may simply be deleted
The following registry entries are created to run W32/Sohana-V on startup:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Yahoo Messengger
<System>\SCVHOST.exe
as well as the modification of this registry entry:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Shell
Explorer.exe SCVHOST.exe
