More Information
W32/Sdbot-PX is a worm and backdoor for the Windows platform. The worm component spread to networks shares protected by weak passwords and computers infected with other backdoors. The backdoor component connects to a predefined IRC server and waits for commands from a remote attacker.
W32/Sdbot-PX copies itself to the Windows system folder as netsv32.exe and adds the following registry entries:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
netsv32 = "netsv32.exe"
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
netsv32 = "netsv32.exe"
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
netsv32 = "netsv32.exe"
The backdoor component of W32/Sdbot-PX allows a remote attacker to control the infected computer and use it as a proxy server or to launch distributed denial of service attacks.
