More Information

W32/Rbot-PO is a network worm and IRC backdoor Trojan for the Windows platform.

The worm copies itself to a file named wuraclt.exe in the Windows system folder and creates the following registry entries:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\Run\
*windows update = "wuraclt.exe"

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
*windows update = "wuraclt.exe"

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
*windows update = "wuraclt.exe"

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices\
*windows update = "wuraclt.exe"

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run\
*windows update = "wuraclt.exe"

W32/Rbot-PO spreads using a variety of techniques including exploiting weak password on computers and SQL servers, exploiting operating system vulnerabilites (including DCOM-RPC, LSASS, WebDAV and UPNP) and using backdoors opened by other worms or Trojans.

W32/Rbot-PO can be controlled by a remote attacker over IRC channels. The backdoor component can be instructed to perform the following functions:

start a portscanner
start a web/ftp server
start a proxy server (SOCKS4)
allow remote shell access (RLOGIN)
take part in distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks
download/execute arbitrary files
capture keypresses
report system information (file/process listings, hardware specifications)
send email
create screen/webcam captures
