More Information

W32/Rbot-JO is a worm which attempts to spread to remote network shares. It also contains backdoor Trojan functionality, allowing unauthorised remote access to the infected computer via IRC channels while running in the background as a service process.

W32/Rbot-JO spreads to network shares with weak passwords as a result of the backdoor Trojan element receiving the appropriate command from a remote user.

W32/Rbot-JO moves itself to the Windows system folder as msupdt.exe and creates entries in the registry at the following locations to run on system startup:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
msupdates = msupdt.exe

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices\
msupdates = msupdt.exe

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\OLE\
msupdates = msupdt.exe

W32/Rbot-JO is capable of the following when instructed by intruder:

- Capture webcam feed
- Serach for CDkey related to games
- Open remote command prompt
- Download/Upload files
- Carry out DDos
- Capture Windows NT/2000 Login password
- Start Keylogger
