W32/MyPics is an email-aware worm that forwards itself to other computer users via email.
The virus arrives in the form of an email with the following characteristics:
Message text: Here's some pictures for you!
Attached file: PICS4YOU.EXE
The email does not have a subject line.
If you run PICS4YOU.EXE the virus attempts to forward itself to up to 50 addresses in your Outlook address book. It also resets Microsoft Internet Explorer so that the default home page points to a pornographic website.
If the year is 2000 the virus writes a file called CBIOS.COM to the hard drive. This program is executed and it attempts to corrupt the computer's CMOS. This may result in the computer displaying a "CMOS Checksum Invalid" message when the computer is next rebooted.
Furthermore, the virus changes the AUTOEXEC.BAT file to reformat the C: and D: hard drives.
This virus is written in Visual Basic and will not work if the file MSVBVM50.DLL is not already present on your computer.
