Please follow the instructions for removing worms.

Delete the two text files outlook.cfg and crc32.cfg.

Windows NT/2000/XP/2003

In Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 you will also need to edit the following registry entry. The removal of this entry is optional in Windows 95/98/Me. Please read the warning about editing the registry.

At the taskbar, click Start|Run. Type 'Regedit' and press Return. The registry editor opens.

Before you edit the registry, you should make a backup. On the 'Registry' menu, click 'Export Registry File'. In the 'Export range' panel, click 'All', then save your registry as Backup.

Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE entry:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\KasperskyAv

and delete it if it exists.

Close the registry editor.

More Information

W32/Mimail-T is an email worm.

W32/Mimail-T copies itself to the Windows folder with the filename kaspersky.exe and sets the following registry entry so as to run itself on system startup:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\KasperskyAv

W32/Mimail-T harvests email addresses from the host computer, storing them in a file called outlook.cfg in the Windows folder. W32/Mimail-T also takes a checksum of the addresses and stores the checksums in a file called crc32.cfg in the Windows folder. The worm then attempts to send itself to the harvested addresses using its own internel SMTP engine.

W32/Mimail-T attempts to gather password information as the host accesses certain PayPal related websites. W32/Mimail-T stores the gathered information temporarily in the files C:\tempeg2.txt and then base-64 encoded in C:\tmpgld.txt, before emailing it to a number of addresses using its own internal SMTP engine.

W32/Mimail-T attempts to launch a Distributed Denial-of-Service attack against a number of websites related to webhosting and spam prevention.

W32/Mimail-T deletes the file zipzip.tmp in the Windows folder.

W32/Mimail-T contains the following text:
"*** GLOBAL WARNING: if any free email company or hosting company will close/filter my email/site accounts, it will be DDoS'ed in next version. WARNING: centrum.cz will be DDoS'ed in next versions, coz they have closed my mimail-email account. Who next? ***"
