Troj/HacDef-X is a Trojan for the Windows platform.
When first run Troj/HacDef-X copies itself to <Windows>\gencroot.exe.
The following registry entry is created to run gencroot.exe on startup:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
gencroot
<Windows>\gencroot.exe
The file gencroot.exe is registered as a new system driver service named "Windows Workstation Service", with a display name of "Windows Workstation Service" and a startup type of automatic, so that it is started automatically during system startup. Registry entries are created under:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Windows Workstation Service\
