Please follow the instructions for removing Trojans.

Replace the Hosts file from a backup or edit it in Notepad to remove the changes that the Trojan has made.

Windows NT/2000/XP/2003

In Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 you will also need to edit the following registry entries. The removal of these entries is optional in Windows 95/98/Me. Please read the warning about editing the registry.

At the taskbar, click Start|Run. Type 'Regedit' and press Return. The registry editor opens.

Before you edit the registry, you should make a backup. On the 'Registry' menu, click 'Export Registry File'. In the 'Export range' panel, click 'All', then save your registry as Backup.

Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE entry:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\

and remove any reference to any file you deleted.

Each user has a registry area named HKEY_USERS\[code number indicating user]\. For each user locate the entry:

HKU\[code number]\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Run\

and remove any reference to any file you deleted.

Close the registry editor.

More Information

Troj/BagleDl-U is a Trojan for the Windows platform.

When first run Troj/BagleDl-U copies itself to <Windows system folder>\winshost.exe and creates the file <Windows system folder>\wiwshost.exe. Both these files are detected as Troj/BagleDl-U. Troj/BagleDl-U is a Trojan for the Windows platform.

Troj/BagleDl-U attempts to inject the dropped file wiwshost.exe into the process explorer.exe.

Troj/BagleDl-U sets the following registry entry:

Troj/BagleDl-U tries to run NOTEPAD.EXE the first time it is run.

Troj/BagleDl-U attempt to terminate processes and services and to delete registry entries related to security and anti-virus programs.

Troj/BagleDl-U overwrites the HOSTS file with the following single line to overwrite any settings:

127.0.0.1 localhost

Troj/BagleDl-U attempts to download and execute files from a number of remote websites to <Windows folder>\_re_file.exe. At the time of writing these files were not available for download.
