How to change the username and password for the updating policy in Sophos Control Center, version 4

This article describes how to change the username and password for the updating policy in Sophos Control Center.

Sophos Control Center 4.0.1
Sophos Control Center 4.1

What to do

  1. Download the file http://www.sophos.com/tools/UpdateManager.zip
  2. Extract the contents of UpdateManager.zip to C:\Program Files\Sophos\SCC
  3. Open a command prompt and change directory to C:\Program Files\Sophos\SCC
  4. Type the command:
    UpdateManagerHelper.exe -L
  5. Make a note of the Hostname entry in the returned values as this is the name of your update manager (SUM).
  6. Type the command:
    UpdateManagerHelper -c SUM Username Password -nowarn
    Where
    • SUM is the hostname returned in step 5
    • Username is the username (specified by you) that you wish to set in the updating policy. This will need to be in the format domainname\username or computername\username according to the role of the local computer.
    • Password is the password (specified by you) for this username.

If the username or password contains spaces you must enclose it in inverted commas e.g. UpdateManagerHelper -c ServerA "domainname\new account" sophos

The new username and password will be automatically applied to the endpoints.
