Migrating from Enterprise Console 3.1.1 to Sophos Control Center version 4
The product/version referred to in this article is approaching retirement.

With the release of Sophos Control Center, version 4, Sophos Small Business Solutions can now be used on Windows 2008 Small Business Server. Customers who previously installed Enterprise Console on their Windows 2008 SBS now have two options:
- Continue using Enterprise Console on the Small Business Server.
You may elect to keep using version 3.1.1 until its eventual retirement or upgrade to Enterprise Console version 4. This upgrade is described in the Endpoint Security and Control Quick Upgrade Guide. - Switch to Sophos Control Center, version 4.
This document describes the migration of an existing installation of Enterprise Console 3.1.1 on Windows Small Business Server 2008 to Sophos Control Center 4.0.
What to do
Note: your endpoint computers will stop downloading updates during this procedure.
- On the management server, back up the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\Certification Manager\
ORHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Sophos\Certification Manager\ - Uninstall the following Sophos products using Add/Remove programs:
• Sophos Enterprise Console
• Sophos EM Library
• Sophos EM Library Console
• Sophos Remote Management System
You can leave Sophos Anti-Virus and Sophos AutoUpdate on the server, as they will be upgraded as part of the migration process. - On the SQL server, drop the SOPHOS3 database using the following command:
sqlcmd -S .\sophos -d master -E -Q "drop database sophos3" - Delete the following folders:
• C:\Program Files\Sophos\Enterprise Console
• C:\Program Files\Sophos\Remote Management System
• C:\Program Files\Sophos Sweep for NT
• C:\Program Files\Sophos Enterprise Manager
• C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos\Enterprise Console
• C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos\Remote Management System
• C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos Sweep for NT
• C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos Enterprise Manager - On the management server, confirm the following registry key still exists. If it does not import the back up file from step one.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\Certification Manager\
ORHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Sophos\Certification Manager\ - On the management server, download and install version 4 of the Sophos Security Suite, Sophos Computer Security or Sophos Anti-Virus SBE, as listed on your license agreement from Sophos.
- Once the software is installed and your updating status is showing as up-to-date, choose ‘protect new computers’ to install the new Endpoint Security and Control software on your endpoint computers.
