Sophos Small Business Solutions and support for Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X 10.2 and 10.3
As described on our software retirement page, Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X, version 4.9 will be partially retired at the end of 2009. This means that:
- Support for computers running Mac OS X 10.2 will end on 31 December, 2009.
- Support for computers running Mac OS X 10.3 will end on 31 December, 2010.
Version 4.9 of Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X cannot be managed from Sophos Control Center, version 4.0, so you will need to choose one of the following ways of continuing to use Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X on your Mac computers:
- Stay on Sophos Control Center 2.5 until your Mac computers are no longer supported, or until you upgrade the operating system to Mac OS X 10.4+.
- Upgrade the Sophos Control Center to version 4 and:
- Upgrade the operating system on the computers running Mac OS X 10.2 or 10.3 to Mac OS X 10.4 or above, then install Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X v7 on them.
- Change your computers running Mac OS X 10.2 or 10.3 to unmanaged, standalone computers. To do this, please see the instructions below.
To remove your computer from the Sophos Control Center and change to the standalone version of Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X:
- In Sophos Control Center, find the name of the computer that you would like to remove.
- Click Delete.
- Download the standalone installation program for Mac OS X v4.9.
- Run the installation program on your affected Mac OS X computer. Use the credentials for downloading from your licence agreement to update this computer.
