| CVE/CAN name | CVE-2009-2526, CVE-20090-2532, CVE-2009-3103 |

| SophosLabs threat level | Medium |
| Solution | MS09-050 |
| Vendor description | This security update resolves one publicly disclosed and two privately reported vulnerabilities in Server Message Block Version 2 (SMBv2). The most severe of the vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if an attacker sent a specially crafted SMB packet to a computer running the Server service. |
| SophosLabs comments | The significant vulnerability of the three that are addressed by this patch is CVE-2009-3103 which was publically released around the time of the September "patch Tuesday" releases. It is significant because there has been over a month for attackers to exploit this vulnerability yet we have still to see any malware that does so. That being said we would advise users to install this patch at their earliest convenience. |
| SophosLabs testing result | N/A |
| Currently known exploits | At the time of writing SophosLabs have not observed any malware attempting to exploit this vulnerability. Should this situation change samples will be analyzed and we will take action as necessary. |
