Issue
Following upgrade of Enterprise Console from version 3 to version 4, the management service will not start. This issue occurs if you selected the 'Populate database later' option during the installation.

Sophos product and version
Enterprise Console version 4

What to do

If you chose to preview the database scripts before running them on your database and populate
the database later, the script files were created in your installation directory, usually C:\Program
Files\Sophos\Enterprise Console\DB. After you have reviewed the scripts, populate the database
and move the data from the old database to the new database.

You should now populate the database, using the tool UpgradeDB.exe, as follows:

  1. On the computer where the console is installed, browse to the directory
    <Installation drive>:\Program Files\Sophos\Enterprise Console
  2. Locate the tool UpgradeDB.exe and run it.
  3. This transfers the data from the old SOPHOS3 database to the new SOPHOS4 database.
  4. At the computer where the Enterprise Console management server is installed, go to Windows Services and start the Sophos Management Service process.
