| Vendor description | This security update resolves a privately reported vulnerability in Wireless LAN AutoConfig Service. The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a client or server with a wireless network interface enabled receives specially crafted wireless frames. Systems without a wireless card enabled are not at risk from this vulnerability. |
| SophosLabs comments | MS09-049 resolves a vulnerability that effects the Wireless LAN AutoConfig Service in versions of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. Systems with an enabled wireless card, could receive specially crafted wireless frames that could lead to a remote code execution in WLANSVC. The lack of any known attacks exploiting this vulnerability has lead to SophosLabs assigning a threat level of high. |
