Error when attempting to open Enterprise Console or Sophos Control Center on a remote computer as a role-based administrator

Issue
When attempting to open Enterprise Console or Sophos Control Center on a remote computer using a role-based admin account, you get the following error message:

User needs to be a member of the Sophos Console Administrators group on machine

Applies to
Enterprise Console, version 4.0 and above
Sophos Control Center, version 4.0 and above

What to do

1. Ensure that the account used for role-based administration is a member of the Sophos Console Administrators group.
2. Ensure that the same account is a member of the Distributed COM Users group as well.
